How I found 100 developers with content

A number of parents post in online community groups on behalf of their children.

Others put signs in their windows or in front of their houses.

Recently I saw a genius approach: pulling a wagon along a restaurant-laden street on a Friday evening.

You might be able to reach more people with the other methods, but they’re not nearly as ready to buy your cookies.

Yes, this is related to finding developers with your content.

Sometimes a client will give us a list of keywords from SEO research:

You might think writing to a bunch of keywords is soul-less work.

And it is if you’re simply trying to work the words into sentences. Instead, you can translate the search term into something a developer actually cares about.

Often that means looking at the terms where searchers will be more interested in what your content offers.

This is a much better list of terms:

The search volume is significantly lower, but that’s not where I’m looking. The “Python API call” searchers include a lot of early learners, devs who want some quick syntax help, and other less relevant use cases.

Those searching “Python API server” are more likely to be building something. Plus, for the this client example, it was a much better match for their product.

You might also notice that “KD,” which stands for keyword difficulty, is lower. That means less competition.

These terms are an excellent way to find 100 developers who are ready to build. And connecting with the right developers will start momentum so that number is likely to grow.

Rather than keyword-stuffing or sending an LLM AI to town on high-volume searches…

You can translate these terms into developer problems. The most relevant of these problems can be answered with helpful technical content that makes your product an obvious next step.

Like a wagon filled with Thin Mints and Samoas, parading in front of diners… they won’t be able to stay away from your tasty blog posts.

If you need help breaking your cookie addiction, on the other hand, I’m the wrong person to ask.
