YOU are an invited guest
In the earliest days of EveryDeveloper, I visited a client in Los Angeles. It didn’t take long to identify a trend that’s not as common where I live in Portland.
As I shuffled toward the hotel restaurant for a late dinner, the host greeted me at a velvet rope.

You probably know the type: two metal posts, connected with a thick, soft cable, elegantly hanging low in the middle.
L.A. was full of them. Perhaps they’re expected in night clubs and high end restaurants. I was surprised to see it at the hotel. I admit it made the place feel a little more special, even though you could have one for $100 on Amazon.
Of course, it’s not the rope itself. It’s the message when it’s opened: you are an invited guest.
We can provide the same experience for developers, without the need for gallant gimmickry. Can you surprise the most engaged with additional credits, exclusive swag, or an invitation to a private community?
Good news—you’re one of those special people to me.
So I want to share something with you that I’ve kept behind a velvet rope—or, perhaps more accurately, behind that yellow tape used at construction sites and crime scenes—since the publication of Developer Marketing Does Not Exist.

The Developer Marketing Library contains worksheets, checklists, and templates to take action on the book’s lessons. And now, even if you haven’t read the book yet, it’s yours.
After all, you are an invited guest.
